2-Day HOT Class
July 18 and 19

Large vehicles drive through our communities on a daily basis. When the tones drop in the middle of the night for a vehicle under a tractor-trailer with the driver trapped, it is too late for practice. The victim and community are expecting rescuers to show up and expeditiously handle the problem at hand.

This class is designed to breakdown operations during heavy vehicle accidents by utilizing a step-by-step process through facilitated learning. It will begin by exploring equipment through small, hands-on, group workshops, which will allow students to observe how each component works within a system. Students will then take that information and apply it to six “real-life” scenarios designed to challenge their thinking and enhance their operations. Each scenario will guide students through calculating loads, setting up stabilization/lifting equipment, and techniques to separate larger vehicles from the passenger vehicles.

Students will physically get to see the forces being applied to both the equipment and larger vehicles within the system. Our instructors do not just teach tactics; they strive to explain “how” and “why” it works within the entire operation. This is a fast-paced, two-day class that will leave participants feeling more confident when dealt these types of incidents on the street. Come ready to think, work, and get your hands dirty.
