Course Description: This 4-hour HOT class. In todays fire service an emphasis on fast water has came to the forefront in tactical decisions.  This class addresses the need to stretch lines quickly and efficiently. The class will cover many aspects of the stretch. Some of the skill stations will include the minute man load and variations of the load. Stretching around and between obstacles such as cars and porches. Extending lines and showing the advantages and disadvantages of some appliances such as the gated Y. Also covered will be a skill station on hose bundles and multiple options using hose straps, standpipe hook ups and stretches. The last skill station will be vertical stretching. In this station multiple areas will be covered such as well stretching, hook stretching and rope stretches. Discussions on engine placement and estimating the stretch will also take place. The idea of the class is to show you options which have been proven through street experience. The instructor cadre has more than 150 years of street experience. The class is designed to teach you whats not in the book and to show the students the common mistakes made on how to overcome those mistakes. There is only one way to get good at stretching hose lines…..get out and stretch hose lines.
