Course Description: This course gives you solid experience with Static 1 3/4" Hose Loads. After this course, you will understand why so many West Coast fire departments are ditching preconnects to add this versatile hose load to their Engines. The second part of the class focuses on how to "push" (flowing water while advancing) 1 3/4" handlines, which is the fastest way to advance through a fire area.
When to choose a static load instead of a preconnected handline
How to "estimate the stretch" from the tailboard
How to stretch through realistic terrain- parking lots, debris, limited access alleys
Vertical stretches to upper floors with two Engine Companies
The benefits and limitation of both hose load styles (static and preconnected)
How to "push" through a fire room while continuously flowing water to extinguish fire and maintain a tenable environment for you and the occupants
Advancing up stairways involved in fire (Garden-style apartment buildings)
How to "push" through realistic hoarder conditions
